General Information
T
he 24 Hours of Freedom is a 200+ mile team relay going generally from Flagstaff to near Phoenix, Arizona. Teams can be made up of 6 to 12 team members. Most teams will have 12 team members each running 3 legs to complete the 36 leg course. The combination of legs creates varying mileage for each competitor -- from as few as 15 miles to as many as 24 for a single competitor. Runners, hand cyclists, and one-offers are encouraged to compete. The course follows portions of the Arizona Trail, dirt roads, fire roads, country roads and will be marked for the participants. Exchanges occur along the way where volunteers check in one athlete while the next athlete prepares to leave. The exchange happens and the new competitor takes off. The remainder of their team drives ahead to the next exchange. In this way the teams complete the entire distance.
